The team from P1 completed their charity bike ride from London to Exeter on Friday. The team did amazingly well completing the 120 miles on the Thursday and 86 on Friday, rolling into the Exeter office at 5pm on the Friday afternoon. Please take into consideration that this team wasn’t made up of existing keen cyclists, some had only started cycling in May, so the feat of cycling 200 miles in two days is really something!

The ride in numbers:

  • *Currently* £9300 raised for two charities
  • 206 miles of riding (a few walking)
  • 15 hours of time in the saddle (little sore!)
  • 3322m of up hill climbing (Had to explain to some that it being net downhill didn’t matter…)
  • 6376 Calories burned (but approx 8000 consumed in sweets and cakes)
  • 6 pints (completely necessary moral boosters)
  • 2 punctures (within a minute of each other)
  • 1 tub of Vaseline
  • Endless amount of bad jokes

The team would like to thank all the amazing support from family friends and colleagues and all those that donated! Special mention should also go to the support driver who kept us fueled and watered throughout the journey.

A small apology to the bank holiday traffic on the A35 travelling down on the Friday afternoon – nothing worse than being stuck behind a caravan, who’s stuck behind a lorry, who’s stuck behind 6 cyclists struggling up a hill… Hope everyone got where they wanted in time to enjoy the weather!

Our Just Giving page is still available so if you haven’t donated please do as the more we can raise the better.

Plans for next year are already in motion with a 300 mile Manchester to Exeter ride on the drawing board and potential for a shorter 60 mile Exeter to Liskeard tandem ride.
