Business ethics: moving beyond just compliance

 

As a topic, business ethics moves beyond the usual focus on compliance issues and is highly relevant to financial professionals.  Incorporating business ethics training for staff can help imbue a strong ethical culture within an organisation.  This article gives a brief introduction to ethics, before exploring the relationship between ethics and the law and outlining sets of ethical principles. Finally it looks at the benefits to financial professionals of a deeper understanding of ethics, including better appreciation of the consequences of behaviour and the ability to weigh up ethical dilemmas under ‘safe’ conditions.
